This American Life contributor and FOUND magazine, uh, founder stopped by Going Off Track during the book tour for his memoir My Heart Is An Idiot to talk with Jonah about zine culture, punk rock and his writing process. From stumbling upon a dead body to having phone sex with strangers, Rothbart’s career trajectory is one has been propelled by adventure as well as the random connections he’s made with people all over the world. “Talking to strangers always leads to good things and at worst someone things you’re weird and you move on,” Rothbart says at one point—and from picking up women to scalping tickets, that brazenness has undoubtedly helped Rothbart get to where he is today.
