Episode 117: Max Bemis

Max Bemis of Say Anything came by Going Off Track to discuss his new album “Hebrews,” hisĀ  rediscovery of organized religion, Jewish neurosis and how his spiritual upbringing has shaped who he is today. He also talked about the way his manic depression still shadows him and how he’s found a way to acknowledge he past while pushing toward the future. This includes finding new ways to create viable art such as the Max Bemis Song Shop, which has seen him write and record thousands of customized songs over the past few years. A decade after the release of his breakthrough album “…Is A Real Boy” Bemis is still asking himself the hard questions, he’s just found a way to dwell in them in a way that’s not only comforting but is also remarkably constructive.
