Circa Survive guitarist Colin Frangicetto came by going off track with guest host Steak Mountain to talk about how they reluctantly became “artists,” how coming up in punk rock gave them the confidence to experiment in visual arts and why if you’re truly happy with what you’ve created it’s probably time to quit. “It’s like finding the ease of use in being totally unhappy with being creative,” Steak Mountain says at one point, adding that it doesn’t mean you have to be mopey about it. (We agree.) But don’t worry, we also discuss Frangicetto’s music (kind of), what he misses about transitioning from an expansive CD collection to a more modern-oriented digital music library and what it’s like to be the dude in a popular band who fans don’t necessarily recognize… and why that’s sort of great.
