Chef and owner of the No.7 restaurant and sub shops Tyler Kord came by Going Off Track to discuss his new book “A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches.” Along the way Benny and Jonah also discuss their favorite sandwiches with Tyler, why sometimes the simplest recipes are the most satisfying and the time Tyler’s tenure as the guitarist as an emo band. We also discuss why he hates culinary reality shows, how fine artist William Wegman ending up illustrating the book and cooking as art. “If you read the book I’m not preaching about organic food but I do feel like if you can afford it you should buy the more expensive food because in doing that you’re supporting a more ethical system of everything,” Kord says at one point. But if you’re going eat McDonalds instead of organic fennel he’s quick to also stress that you shouldn’t do it on his account.
