Frequent guest host and friend of the podcast Jeff Rosenstock returned to Going Off Track to discuss his then-recent show in Tijuana, street tacos and why there is no escape from advertising (except on this podcast). We also discuss the time that Benny almost got arrested at Denny’s for NOT dine-and-dashing, the making of Jeff’s latest hit album “Worry” and a lot of stuff about fantasy sports. “It’s certainly evolution: In 100 years we’ll be communicating globally probably, we already are,” Rosenstock says of the way that technology is affecting our reality. This leads us into an impassioned conversation on the origins of the language of Esperanto, why Jonah’s dad is the original Todd and how Jeff has managed to stick to his DIY roots as his popularity increases. “I think what informs my records more than anything else is how incredibly self-critical I am with every single note being important and I can’t see myself ever not being that way,” he explains. If you aren’t familiar with Jeff’s solo work, his old band Bomb The Music Industry! or his current project with Benny and Chris Farren, Antarctigo Vespucci, it’s time for you to get acquainted. You’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
