Flaming Lips’ multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd and the original host of Blue’s Clues Steve Burns came by Going Off Track to discuss their musical project STEVENSTEVEN who just released their debut album of children’s songs, Foreverywhere. Along the way we talk about Burns’ death hoax, the time Jonah saw The Flaming Lips open for Candlebox and why it was taboo for children’s television to be cool during the Blue’s Clues era. We also discuss why only one of these Steven’s is a fan of the band Rush, how the duo feel going into their first show ever and why despite all of their success they feel like they still have something to prove. “It’s a little scary because for me I had to summon a part of me that I haven’t in twenty years just to do it, “Burns explains at one point. “I also think it’s a personal expectation because the stakes are kind of high, I’m performing for kids again.” If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in a musical project with a member of your favorite band, this episode is a rare example of actualizing that dream and finding friendship along the way.
